Hillary Diane Andales
Hillary Diane Andales of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Eastern Visayas Campus in Palo Leyte entered the semifinals of the 2016 Breakthrough Junior Challenge.

Andales, 17 presented a video in the annual challenge. Her entry tackled Freyman’s Path Integral Formulation of Quantum Physics which is about amplitude frequencies that can be found in all of nature. It is a pattern that is replicated from flowers to the form of galaxies.

Organized by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, the contest gathered original videos from students around the world that “bring to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics or mathematics.” The Breakthrough Junior Challenge aims “to inspire creative thinking about science.”

Those who will make it into the finals are based on the “student’s ability to communicate complex scientific ideas in engaging, illuminating, and imaginative ways.”

The winner will be awarded US$250,000.00 worth of college scholarship, the school will receive US$100,000 for a Breakthrough Prize Lab and US$50,000 Teacher Inspiration Prize.

There is a  popular vote challenge where viewers of the video will vote for their favorite entry and voting will be until Nov. 9 only. The entry with the highest total of likes, shares and positive reactions will advance to the finals.
